The ChaLean Extreme Workout In Depth
Chalene Johnson has been no stranger to the fitness world, she has appeared in over 80 different workout videos, and has even come out with a few of her own. In 2005 she released Turbo Jam, which quickly sold over 4.5 million copies. Since then she has released some spin offs of the Turbo Jam Maximum Results Exercise like, Turbo jam Fat Burning Elite, Turbo Jam Live, and Get on the Ball. Chalene has not only helped millions of people burn fat, but also has taught those people how live healthy lives with her home workout routines and live workout sessions.
Her most recent home workout routine, which was just release in January of 2009, is said to be her most challenging and best workout yet. It is called ChaLean Extreme. ChaLean Extreme uses keys from the Turbo Jam workouts and combines them with weight lifting that will help fat melt off your body. ChaLean Extreme is a 90 day workout program that has the option of being extend into 120 days if you feel up to it. This program is no walk in the park, there is a reason why the title of this workout has the word "extreme" in it.
So what is ChaLean Extreme all about? Well, ChaLean Extreme is broken down into 3 phases, Burn, Push and Lean. If you decided to do the 120 day option there is a fourth phase called "Lean for life." Each phase is 30 days long and is designed to build muscle and burn fat. All you need is the desire to live a healthy life and some dumbbells. Chalene uses the Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells, which are great because they are adjustable and have a wide range of weight, so just about anyone can use them. If you do not like using dumbbells, there is a resistance band option, but in my opinion the dumbbells work better.
Chalean Extreme's philosophy is "Muscles Burns Fat," and she achieves this by using the dumbbells in almost every exercise. But it is the way you use the dumbbells which helps you burn fat. The Chalean extreme exercises have you focus on slow lifting, you will be surprised how more difficult it is to pump out 12 reps when you are going slow. Slow lifting and the right weight choice will be the deciding factor whether you get all that the ChaLean Extreme routine has to offer you. It has been known for awhile that the fastest way to burn fat is to build muscle, but many people shy away from weight lifting because they are afraid of bulking up. That is not the case with Chalean extreme, you will only build lean muscle mass because the exercises and the nutrition plan are specifically designed to tone your body.
The Phases:
The Burn Phase is the first circuit of the Chalean Extreme workout. Your goal in this phase is to push your muscles to failure. It sounds wrong, but muscle failure is actually a good thing in this case. You will push yourself to do 10 - 12 reps with each exercise. You will be getting a full body workout, because you will be focusing on your lower and upper body at the same time. You should definitely start see results by the end of this month.
The Push Phase is the second circuit. In this phase you will push your muscles beyond their comfort zone, there is no messing around in this phase. You have to continue to challenge yourself, but make sure you use proper form. You will be using heavier weights and only lifting between 6 to 8 reps. You will only be focusing on one body part at a time so you can really build muscle.
The Lean Phase it the last phase, you mostly will focus on your upper body, lower body, and core, all at the same time. In this workout your strength and balance will be challenged. During this month you will feel like a different person, and by the end you will look like a different person.
If you stay to the course you will definitely see results, you will notice a huge change in your body and your health. There are a couple Chalean Extreme tools to help you along. Chalean extreme comes with a sculpting band, a body fat measure, fitness guide and nutrition guide. The nutrition guide is very important to your success. Because you will be building muscle, your metabolism will speed up and you will want to eat more food. The nutrition guide will help you eat the right foods, so you can maximize your results with the workouts. The nutrition guide also has phases that correlate with each phase of the Chalean extreme workout.
Who can do it? Although Chalene Johnson's old workouts have been more women dominated, this workout is for both men and women. There is also a fitness test to see if one is ready for this type of extreme home workout. Other workouts You can try are P90x or Power 90.

Have you tried her Turbo Jam workouts?
I started the Chalean Extreme program in August 2010. I completed the whole 90 day program, without missing a day. When I started, I weighed 298 lbs. When I finished the 90 days, I lost over 70 lbs. It is now Febuary and I weigh 215 lbs. It works if you eat healthy and do the 90 day program without missing days and give it YOUR best effort! They have low impact for beginners. If you are a beginner, you will benefit the most! Don't be fooled into thinking that these types of programs are for just in-shape fit people. There not! You can easily do it, with just a commitment to follow the plan!
Yeah ya know I am a big P90x and Insanity guy, but had downloaded these workouts. To be honest I did not really like them, but they were good workouts. I dunno they did not click with me, but I could see you getting in great shape doing them
