There are two major blender brands on the market, and trust me...both of them are great!  Both of them can make ice-cream and hot soup.  Both of them can blend like crazy!  But here are a few advantages in getting the BlendTec Blender. 

• The BlendTec Blender has more power!  The Blendtec blender has 3 horsepower and the Vitamix has 2. 

• BlendTec's blade design is more advanced.  The BlendTec blade creates a vortex, so that if you lost your lid or forgot to put it on, the blender will not spit out the food creating a huge mess.  The Vitamix does not have this technology, you need to have the lid on, and use a ram rod to make sure everything get blended.
